“De Vereniging Potgrond- en substraatfabrikanten Nederland (VPN)”, roughtly translates to “The Association of Soil and Substrate Manufacturers in the Netherlands” is the branch organisation of the Dutch substrate sector. The VPN and its members stand for high quality substrates, which are a condition for the healthy growth of all plants. The total annual turnover of the VPN members is approximately € 350 million. An important part of the substrates produced remain in the Netherlands, a third is destined for export. The substrates that are produced in the Netherlands are an important basis for vegetable and ornamental crops in Europe.
BVB Substrates has a partnership with the Horti Alliance. Horti Alliance is a partnership between leading horticultural suppliers. The aim of the collaboration is to centralise knowledge and experience and to stay well informed of developments in the sector. For growers this means that by centralising customer-oriented activities, information from suppliers about developments and innovations is made better and easier accessible.
BVB Substrates products are RHP certified. RHP has been the European center of knowledge for growing media (both for professional growers and retail) since 1963. RHP certified substrates provide an optimal start of growth. The quality mark ensures that the substrate complies with the quality requirements concerning for instance water uptake, air content, pH, EC and nutrients. It also offers more security that the substrate is pure and clean and that it can be used without risks for the cultivation. This means we take great care to avoid contamination with any pathogens or diseases and produce in an environment free of weeds. The RHP quality mark monitors the quality of growing media in the chain, from raw materials production until processing and delivery at the company of the user.
Our production sites in Grubbenvorst and De Lier are ISO 9001:2015 certified. ISO is the international standard for quality management. In order to be certified to ISO, a company must follow the requirements set forth in the ISO Standard. A company, for example, needs to have its quality policy ready and it has to be known throughout all levels of the company. Next to that an ISO certified organisation has to strive for high customer satisfaction levels and have clear processes. This ensures the customer of the best quality in product and service.
