Optimal basis for natural and public green spaces

Healthy plant growth needs an optimal foundation, and at BVB Substrates we work day in, day out to provide them. Our customers include municipalities and provincial governments, contractors and golf clubs all over the world. We literally have unlimited possibilities in mixtures for use in public green spaces, and we are a leader in product innovation. This is not a coincidence; we have a wealth of knowledge and experience that can safely be called unique.

We also have the most up-to-date production facilities. BVB enjoys a reputation as a reliable, customer-friendly supplier. As a typically Dutch company, we have grown to a top position in the field.

Selecting raw materials

With our years of experience, we know just where to find the best quality raw materials. These materials have been RHP- and RAG-approved for their physical and chemical characteristics, and also undergo phyto-sanitary testing. At our lab we also tests raw materials on arrival. Besides controlling EC and pH values, we perform growth tests, including toxicity tests.

Modern production facilities

Our production process is computerised and mechanised as far as possible. Computer-driven equipment mixes the raw materials and adds lime, chemical fertilisers and trace elements. Much of our equipment has been specially developed for us. We are able to ensure that the original texture of the soil stays intact during sieving, breaking and grading. The peat is not crushed but crumbled. In sieving we make no fewer than four gradations, from coarse to very fine. This results in a perfect end product, with consistent quality and minimum tolerances. All our facilities have a three months’ supply of raw materials in reserve. Much of this is covered.

BVB also keeps optimal hygiene in mind. We clean our trucks almost every day. Our fleet of trucks enables us to be just as punctual as we are flexible. We can always reach you quickly from our facilities in De Lier and Grubbenvorst.

We provide the optimal substrate for every condition, planting site and environment. We can visit your site if you wish, and can perform soil testing or sieve analysis if needed. We have thousands of formulas at our disposal and, if you like, we can add other ingredient(s) of your choice, such as bacterial and parasitic fungal preparations, or wetting agents.

Straatbomenzand®

We supply several types of sand specifically for trees planted in paved surfaces. This sand guarantees a good water/air balance for optimal growth without buckling the surrounding pavement.

Dress soils
To make your golf greens as smooth as a billiard cloth, we supply perfect finely sieved dress soil, also available in customised proportions, with your additives thoroughly mixed in. And don’t forget our excellent top layers. We also deliver (clay) shells or bark for golf course paths.

Roof garden substrates

There is increasing interest in gardens in ‘novel’ locations such as rooftops, parking garages, and terraces. BVB manufactures and delivers roof-garden substrates. These comply with German FLL ‘Richtlinien von Dachbegrünungen’ (‘Guidelines for Roof Gardens’).
We can supply several types of substrate, depending on your chosen plants, drainage system and the allowable load.
